Congratulations to the buy.at team.

Yesterday at the Affiliate Summit, Tim Storm was honored with the Wayne Porter Affiliate Marketing Legend Award. This was the second time the award was given, and its purpose is to recognize individuals in affiliate marketing who have distinguished themselves as leaders and innovators.

Wayne Porter was presented the inaugural award in January 2006, and subsequently his name was added.

Porter bestowed his namesake award to Tim Storm following the keynote address by Jim Bouton at Affiliate Summit 2006 East in Orlando.

“Tim Storm continues to innovate in the field of marketing both technically and through the creation of fandom and community,” commented Wayne Porter, Co-Founder of Revenews.com.

“He places a firm emphasis on his employee’s welfare as well as his site visitors. Because of his vision and leadership FatWallet.com continues to grow at an outstanding rate,” continued Porter.

The award will be bestowed upon additional players in the affiliate marketing space at future Affiliate Summit events.

Tim Storm was recognized on the second day of Affiliate Summit 2006 East because of his inspirational story and impact on the affiliate marketing world dating back to the 1990’s. Storm is the owner, founder and Chief Mucky Muck of FatWallet.com, an online community and shopping resource.

Tim Storm started up FatWallet.com in 1999 as a one page listing of coupons for a handful of retailers. With the addition of a Hot Deals forum, FatWallet.com began building a community of savvy shoppers.

Since its launch, FatWallet.com has grown to include over 400,000 members and over 500 affiliate program merchant partners. The site ranks by Alexa as one of the top 2000 internet properties world wide.

FatWallet.com has grown tremendously over the years, because Storm has cultivated a community of raving fans that appreciate his vision and hands-on approach.

Back in November, 2002, Storm received a great deal of media attention when he set precedent for online consumers’ rights in a face-off against retail giant Wal-mart.

After one of the FatWallet.com forum members posted product pricing information scheduled to appear in Wal-mart Black Friday advertisements, Wal-mart sought the identity of the member, invoking sections of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Tim Storm refused to provide the personal information of the forum member, and solidified his reputation as an advocate for the rights of consumers to gather and share information.

Storm is frequently featured in the media for his expertise with Internet deal hunting. He is the Affiliate King of All Media with coverage by myriad media outlets including MSNBC, New York Times Magazine and National Public Radio. Earlier this year, Tim Storm was featured as one of the Reader’s Favorites in Fast Company magazine’s “Fast 50.”

Seven years after Storm put up that single page of affiliate links, he has built a thriving business with 35 employees who work by such principles as “When we share, we win,” and “How do we make it remarkable.”

Thank you to Tim Storm for making the affiliate marketing industry a better one.
